The Annual meeting was held in the St Wilfrid's Parish Hall after the service on Sunday 24th March 2019. As meeting go it wasn't too bad since most folks were looking forward to their Sunday lunch.

The meeting minutes may be viewed or downloaded from here, and the financial summary here.

Please note that the download site (Dropbox) is new territory for me and these links may not work initially. If that is the case please let me know by sending an email, with a summary of the problem, to magazine@stwilfridsparish.com

The February Connected is available to download!
Canon David Winter reflects on gambling abdication in the UK today, and Christian values relating to the transfer of money. Tony Service notes that February this year is an ‘Ordinary Month’ except for Racial Justice Sunday which is held on 10th February.

Barbara Richardson provides information on ‘Away From It All Holidays’, a worthy charity supported by the Mothers Union gives free holidays to poorer families who wouldn’t be able to get away otherwise. Barbara, with Martin Millward, report on the Monday & Wednesday Home Groups at St Wilfrid’s. Both groups encourage Christian fellowship and provide support for those who may be insecure or lonely. Martin also shares his personal views on Prayers.

Claire Hodgson updates us on the work of the Wellbeing CafĂ© that continues to grow; from the outside it appears to be full of fellowship, fun, laughter and mutual support. Jean Goodenough recalls a talk given by Barry Walmsley to the Brayton WI on Civil Engineering. And finally I report on Linda Butler’s excellent Yoga Classes held in the Parish Hall – Downward Dog anyone? I also report on the mission of the Church Cleaners, and share some guidance on surviving the isolation of village life.

Happy New Year Everyone! The January Connected is available to download!

This month Revd. Roy Shaw wishes us more than Happy New Year – happiness, of course but also justice, peace, harmony, and opportunities for our potential to be released. Amen to that. Tony Service provides an update on the Methodist Circuit in Selby, and notes the importance of the affirmation contained within the Covenant Service. Irene Pope comments on the Blue Christmas period of reflection held in St Wilfrid’s and Jill Clarke reports on the Brayton Mothers Union meeting held earlier in the month. There is also a note from Dave Mitchell on clematis and dogwoods in the garden, and for those with an eye to detail I recommend looking out for the dogwood near to the Parish Hall - which look splendid at this time of year.
The remainder of the magazine was written by me; for which I apologize profusely! My usual contributors were busy eating mince pies this month…
