Canon David
Winter reflects on gambling abdication in the UK today, and Christian values
relating to the transfer of money. Tony Service notes that February this year
is an ‘Ordinary Month’ except for Racial Justice Sunday which is held on 10th
February.
Barbara Richardson provides information on ‘Away From It All
Holidays’, a worthy charity supported by the Mothers Union gives free holidays
to poorer families who wouldn’t be able to get away otherwise. Barbara, with
Martin Millward, report on the Monday & Wednesday Home Groups at St
Wilfrid’s. Both groups encourage Christian fellowship and provide support for
those who may be insecure or lonely. Martin also shares his personal views on
Prayers.
Claire Hodgson updates us on the work of the Wellbeing Café
that continues to grow; from the outside it appears to be full of fellowship,
fun, laughter and mutual support. Jean Goodenough recalls a talk given by Barry
Walmsley to the Brayton WI on Civil Engineering. And finally I report on Linda
Butler’s excellent Yoga Classes held in the Parish Hall – Downward Dog anyone?
I also report on the mission of the Church Cleaners, and share some guidance on
surviving the isolation of village life.
