The February Connected is Available to Download!

This month Revd. Philip Macdonald looks at Racial Justice Sunday in the Dear Friends piece, and reminds that Jesus challenged the prevailing attitudes of the day.

Writing of challenges, Karl Jarvis reports on the works now needed to the fabric of St Wilfrid’s. Karl also included a lovely poem by John Betjeman Blame the Vicar. Copyright prevents me from printing the poem, but I urge you to seek it out. It doesn’t apply to Revd. Pete obviously...

Pat Jarvis & Jill Clarke write job vacancies, future plans and money. Time to look again at the standing order me thinks.

Jill also reports on the Mothers’ Union AGM, and I record the work of Mel Allan in producing a photographic record of works undertaken to St Wilfrid’s in the early 1990s.

The February Connected is available to download here

Joint Parish Holy Communion @ St Francis. Sunday 30th January 2022 @ 10:30am

Hello all

As this Sunday’s 10.30am service is at St Francis in Thorpe Willoughby. I’m afraid there will be no livestream, but we hope to see you there!

St Wilfrid's Drama Workshop - Monday 28th February 2022 @ 7pm

This workshop builds on the successful Play Reading, held in January, when all those attending

enjoyed a good laugh - reading aloud a comedy play - and wanted more.

But before looking at another play, we wanted to explore some hints on how to approach these readings. The workshop will cover how to approach characters lines – how to portray the characters personality to ensure both the plot and plays effectiveness. It can result in so much pleasure, and it develops self-confidence. You don't know what you can do, till you try.

So why not come along? We can guarantee you a good laugh!

Choir & Organists Update at St Wilfrid's!

We’re delighted to welcome James Lowery and Martin Colley who will join Yvonne Green and Charlotte Watson in supporting our morning worship at St Wilfrid’s. Martin has very kindly played at a couple of services already, but as of January 2022 will play for our Celtic Communion services on alternate 3rd Sundays of the month. From February 2022 James will play on the 4th Sundays as well as directing the choir. Many thanks to them both.

A big thanks to Charlotte for continuing to lead our musical worship at Family Communion services on the second Sunday of the month.

A very special thanks to Yvonne, who has faithfully supported us in our worship over many years, not least, in these last few years as we’ve struggled to find organists. We have been truly blessed in her. She will continue to play for our Morning Prayer services on the first Sunday of the month.

23rd January 2022 Sunday Service transferred to St Francis

Revd. Pete has caught the Covid virus and has to isolate. We pray that he makes a swift recovery.

Pete writes:

"Hello all,

I’m very sorry, but I’ve just tested positive for covid, so won’t be able to take this Sunday’s services at St Wilfrid’s, which is very disappointing.

Revd. Roy Shaw has very kindly agreed to step in to take the 8am Communion service, but there won’t now be a 10:30am service at St Wilfrid’s, so can I encourage you to join with the folks at St Francis for the 10:30am lay led Morning Worship service there, please.

It also means, no livestream this Sunday. Sincere apologies for this and that last week technology failed us again.

I’m very sorry not to be joining you in worship and fellowship this Sunday.

Blessings

Revd. Pete"

The pew sheets for the St Wilfrid's service of Holy Communion 23rd January 2022 are available here and may be used in private prayer and contemplation.
